Dresden is a cultural, educational, political and economic centre of Germany. Having been built over many centuries by the royal residence of Dresden, the city was completely destroyed by the Allied bombing towards the end of the Second World War.


Dresden is also home to the famous Volkswagon Factory made from glass - 'Die Gläserne Manufaktur'. You can wander around the fascinating production plant watching the final production stages of the VW Phaeton.
